At West Buncombe, we are growing young authors every day! As part of our schoolwide focus on writing across the curriculum, one student from every classroom is recognized for their outstanding effort and creativity in writing. These students were selected as exemplars and serve as models of strong writing for their peers. We are proud to celebrate their hard work and share their accomplishments with our school community!

WB Writers of the Week
We are thrilled to share some exciting news with our school community! Lauren Teague has been selected as West Buncombe’s 2026–2027 Teacher of the Year.

What makes this recognition so meaningful is that it comes directly from her peers, the very people who see, day in and day out, the dedication, skill, and heart she pours into her work. Our staff knows firsthand what happens in her classroom and across our school, and their vote speaks volumes about the respect and admiration they have for her.

Lauren represents the very best of what it means to be an educator here at West Buncombe: she is committed to her students’ success, she brings positivity and professionalism to her colleagues, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make learning engaging and meaningful.

Please join me in congratulating Lauren on this well-deserved honor. We are incredibly proud of her and grateful to have her representing West Buncombe as our Teacher of the Year!

Chicks for Sale
Dear West Buncombe Families, Tomorrow morning, we are excited to welcome former West Buncombe students, now graduating seniors from Erwin High School, back to our campus for the annual Senior Walk. This special tradition allows our younger students to celebrate the accomplishments of these graduates as they walk the halls of their former elementary school, cheered on by our students and staff. To show our support and school spirit, we invite all students to wear red shirts tomorrow in honor of the Erwin High School Class of 2025. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to see what lies ahead and be inspired by the success of those who once walked the same halls. Thank you for helping us celebrate this meaningful milestone with our future graduates! Warm regards, Brad Johnson Principal
