Their big, warm hearts have led some BCS School Resource Officers to sign up for a brief, cold swim.
The first-ever Special Olympics Buncombe County Polar Plunge is coming Saturday, Feb. 28 to the Grant Southside Center Pool at 285 Livingston St. in Asheville. The officers are among several organizations, families, and individuals ready to take a dip to raise funds and support for Special Olympics athletes. The Polar Plunge will help provide year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities and health services. Special Olympics athletes bravely face challenges on and off the field, inspiring participants and supporters alike.
You can join our School Resource Officers and jump in yourself. Registration is open now online, and starts in-person at the pool at 10 a.m. Individuals can register for $75, or groups of five can register as a team for $375. Those who prefer to support the Special Olympics without taking a plunge can do so by donating to an individual or team fundraiser.
The Polar Plunge opening ceremony starts at 11 a.m., with plungers starting at 11:15.
