Greetings fellow SOARING EAGLES!! This is my first welcome letter as the new incoming PTO President and I am super excited about the new school year!

First, I want to welcome all new incoming families to West Buncombe. I remember how we felt as a new family last year when our daughter started kindergarten, and what it was like adjusting to a new routine.  I can honestly say that the first -year concerns were soon washed away when we became part of one of the best communities of teachers and staff in all of Buncombe County!  My hope is that you’ll eventually see and know our school by its nickname - “Best Buncombe”. ๐Ÿ˜Š

What is the PTO?

PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization; parents and teachers working together to support and enrich the lives of all students.  We support school staff, help promote student self-esteem, and assist in efforts to solve school needs through volunteering and funding. The PTO is made up of several officers: Casey Slate, President; Chasity Burleson, Vice President & Co-Treasurer; Athena Silver, Treasurer, Katy Titley, Secretary; plus, our wonderful school staff and volunteers.

Who can be a Member?

Are you a father, mother, grandparent, guardian, and/or a person who teaches or instructs at West Buncombe? If you answered YES, then we would love for you to become a member!

PTO Programs & Fundraising

Our primary objective is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources, and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child and to benefit the school. To meet this important objective, we fundraise. Here are a few programs that we sponsor and/or support: Annual Book Fair, Santa Shop, Teacher Appreciation, PBIS (Positive Behavior) Day, Annual Auction Dinner, and various other fundraisers throughout the year.

We all want the very best education and experience for our children.  Please consider becoming involved and supporting our great school; you will not regret it! One hour of time is worth so much. Please join me, the PTO board, and our entire community as we work together to help West Buncombe reach its greatest potential.

Our next PTO meeting is on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:30 a.m. Please feel free to email us with any questions at
