Welcome back to Music at West Buncombe Elementary!

And a special welcome to our new students!

Over the summer my husband and I welcomed our first baby, Charlotte Anne. But I'm back! And we are ready for a new year of school with our awesome WBES kids.

We will begin the year reviewing what we have learned so far in grades 1-4, and Kindergarten will get on track with learning how we do things in the music room, and getting the skills in order to be able to read and play music in no time!

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at maegan.dauphinais@bcsemail.org

If your child has a ukulele/guitar/violin or any other string instrument - congratulations! It's time to learn to tune!

Every time you play a string instrument it must be tuned. Strings stretch and contract depending on the weather, the temperature, how old or new the strings are - the list goes on and on. This is the single most important skill for learning to play the instrument!

The reason we haven't learned to do this in class is that we have a very limited amount of time each week, and my priority is to get the students playing, so I get the pleasure of tuning the instruments every morning (about 30-45min for 15 violins and ukuleles!)

As much as I would love to help every child who receives an instrument learn to tune it, there aren't enough hours in the day! So, check out this YouTube video to learn how to tune it at home!
