I consider it an honor and privilege to serve as the principal of West Buncombe School. I am so excited about all the great and tremendous things that are happening at W.B.E.S. West Buncombe is a wonderful school where the staff strives everyday for the betterment of our children and community. During the past four years we have made great strides in our academics. We are one of the top performing schools in Buncombe County. Our parent, staff, and student satisfaction ranks among the highest in North Carolina. It is my sincere desire to continue West Buncombe’s success academically. I promise to make West Buncombe a safe and caring learning environment for your child.
This is my twenty-second year with Buncombe County Schools. I taught third and fourth grade at North Buncombe Elementary for nine years. I was the assistant principal here for three years. For six years I was honored to serve as the principal of Oakley Elementary. I have been at the helm of West Buncombe for four years now.
I considered myself a very blessed man. I am so proud of my family. My beautiful wife, Kendall, is a curriculum coach for Buncombe County Schools. My wonderful son, John, is a junior at North Buncombe High School. I have a beautiful little princess, who is six and started Kindergarten this year. Her name is Honey Jo. We are blessed to have the last addition to our quiver, Quill turned four years old in October. My family proudly attends Maple Ridge Baptist Church, where I am the young adult Sunday school teacher and the director of missions. We live on a farm at the Forks of Ivy. When I am not at school, I enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping with my family. Come by and let me show you what’s great about West Buncombe.
